Adora: the most adorable name ever!

I recently came across literally the most adorable๐Ÿฅฐ name ever: ๐Ÿ“›Adora!

But no it's not short for the word: Adorable! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Adora is the short form of ๐Ÿ“›Adoracion — which means: adoration in Spanish. Behind The Name explains, "this name refers to the event that is known in Christian tradition as the Adoration of the Magi, which is when the three Magi presented gifts๐ŸŽ to the infant Jesus✝ and worshipped him."

๐Ÿ“›Nameberry๐Ÿ’ says Adora is, "A name that would lavish your child with adoration, a princess name--as in Princess Adora of She-Ra: ๐Ÿ‘‘Princess of Power."

๐Ÿ“California and ๐Ÿ“District of Columbia are where the most Adoras live.

I love ❤️ the name ๐Ÿ“›Adora — it's just too cute of a name especially if using it as a ๐Ÿ‘‘princess name (FYI I knew of ๐Ÿ—กShe-Ra growing up and I never realized her name was Adora! ๐Ÿคฏ) for a little ๐Ÿ’—girl. But it's also very precious and special if using it for the ๐Ÿ™spiritual meaning behind the wonderful name.

NAME OF THE DAY: Jubilee

๐Ÿ“›๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee is a fun, word name that means many things:

๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee was "first recorded in 1350–1400; Middle English iubile, iubilee, from Middle French jubilรฉ, from Late Latin jลซbilaeus, from Greek iลbฤ“laรฎos (with ล and ฤ“ becoming u and i by assimilation to Latin jลซbilฤre “to shout for joy”), from Hebrew yลbhฤ“l “ram, ram's horn, ram's horn used as a trumpet, trumpet, jubilee."

๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee recently ranked #103 on Nameberry's Top Unique Names list (๐Ÿ“: "the top unique names are those that rank right below the official list of the US Top 1000 Baby Names. Most of these top unique names, ranked 1001 to 2000 on the US list, are given to between 100 and 200 babies a year. That means they strike a good balance between too popular and too unusual"). I'm surprised ๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee is not further along on the name charts. ๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿค” Names.org says: "๐Ÿ“›๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee was first given to 5 or more babies in the year 1975 when it was given as a first name to 9 new born babies. The highest recorded use of the first name Jubilee was in 2015 with a total of 229 babies."

The places where the most ๐ŸŽ‰Jubilees live are not the party cities one would think (New Orleans or Las Vegas) but ๐Ÿ“California and ๐Ÿ“District of Columbia.

"While relatively uncommon as a personal name, ๐Ÿ“›๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee  has maintained its appeal among parents seeking names that convey happiness and significance, particularly in communities with strong biblical or historical connections," Names.org suggests. While Nameberry thinks ๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee has a "joyous and jubilant aura, but it wouldn't be an easy name to carry, what with all that pressure to be a living, breathing, 24-7 party." ๐Ÿฅณ

I love the name ๐Ÿ“›๐ŸŽ‰Jubilee! It's a too cute ๐Ÿฅฐ name that has great and significant meanings behind it — plus a joyous, positive vibe surrounding it. ๐ŸŒŸ

NAME OF THE DAY: Betty

Today is cartoon icon ❤️Betty Boop's 95th birthday ๐ŸŽ‰ — so I will talk about her name that is as classic and cute as her: ๐Ÿ“›Betty❗

The name Betty is of Hebrew origin meaning "pledged to God." But it is also actually a shortened form of the name ๐Ÿ“›Elizabeth!

Nameberry says on Betty: "Betty's image is still very World War II, when Betty Grable was a hot pin-up girl and Betty was the all-American girls' name blanketing the country, second only to Mary from 1928 to 1934. We may be on the precipice of a Betty wave, thanks to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who recently chose it for their third daughter."

Sons have shockingly, reportedly been named ๐Ÿ“›Betty from 1904 - 1934 with a total of 3,619 boy Bettys! ๐Ÿคฏ I'm not a fan of using Betty as a unisex name ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿพ‍♀️ but... Bet or Bett is a ๐Ÿ˜Ž cool little nickname too.

It's incredulous Betty once was the #2 ๐Ÿฅณ most Popular Baby Name for girls in the 1930s (when Betty Boop was born ๐Ÿ—ฏ️๐Ÿ–‹). Yet today, Betty's name in fact is ๐Ÿ›‡ "not in the top 1000 names for any year of birth beginning with 2000" via SSA's name popularity list. I find this sort of shocking. ๐Ÿคฏ Despite being an old-fashioned name, I assumed Betty was at least in the top 500 at some point up to the 2000s. ๐Ÿ˜ž

The states where the most Bettys live:๐Ÿ“California and ๐Ÿ“West Virginia. But in ๐Ÿ“Nebraska, there is an adorable ๐Ÿ“›Betty Club, where "Only women named Betty join this club: ‘It is very nice for the Bettys’." The social club with only Betty named women, was founded by Betty Krueger in 1994 because she had free time after retirement and “it just seemed like a fun thing to do." To join: ๐Ÿ“ข“Either you’re named Betty, or you go by the name Betty" and it is open to Bettys of all ages. The profile piece on this ๐Ÿ˜Ž cool club says: "Over the past 31 years, the club has congregated four times a year, growing to 25 members at one point. The Betty Club has 15 members, as well as several honorary members who are unable to meet in-person." I'm very jealous of Betty Club ๐Ÿ˜ญ and if I were named Betty I would of course love to join. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿพ‍♀️ I wonder if they take members who just really love the name Betty? ๐Ÿค”

I love the name Betty. ๐Ÿ’— My ๐Ÿ˜ obsession with Betty Boop is a big reason. But even so, Betty is just a sweet, nice name. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ The variations of Betty are really pretty too: ๐Ÿ“›Bette (a la Davis๐Ÿ‘€๐ŸŽฅ) and ๐Ÿ“›Bettie (a la Page๐Ÿ“Œ๐Ÿ†™) especially. Betty with one 't': ✨๐Ÿ“›Bety — is ✨new to me.

It is because of Betty Boop however, I've thought of naming a future daughter Betty. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพ‍♀️ I've met only one Betty in my life so far. She was a tattoo artist (I don't know if Betty Rose ๐ŸŒน was her tattooist name or her real name however) and I wanted her to tattoo her namesake Betty Boop on me but unfortunately she didn't get to. ๐Ÿ˜ž The other Betty I knew of, she was the mother of someone I was dating, which was more incentive for me at the time to name a future daughter Betty (๐Ÿ“›Betty ๐Ÿ“›Lou I had in mind, Lou being my mother's name).

I really do hope Betty somehow starts to rise in name popularity ๐Ÿ“ˆ in future decades to come. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿพ Betty is such a timeless name that it deserves a spot back onto the Popular Baby Names list. Here's to the beautiful name ๐Ÿ“›Betty seeing a resurgence in due time. ⏳

NAME OF THE DAY: Donald

Since President Trump's name has been all over the news the weekend I started this blog and I decided to make my first name post on his: ๐Ÿ“›Donald

The name Donald derives from the Scottish Gaelic name ๐Ÿ“›Domhnall and means 'ruler of the world' according to the name website Name of the Year. That of course is a very fitting name for the President of the United States (interestingly, JD Vance, the Vice President's middle name is ๐Ÿ“›Donald also).

Donald was surprisingly never a popular first name for a boy to be named even when Trump became president the first term in 2016 - 2020. Name Census cites just under 3k newborn boys were given the name Donald.

I personally am not a fan of the name ๐Ÿ“›Donald. It's a boring name. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพ‍♀️ It's not even a boring but classic name (like 'John' and I do like the name John). I briefly met a Donald but he went as Don (I found out later he didn't go by Donald & I always wondered, how did he get the name Donald?) He did not "look like a Donald" (but did "look like a Don").

Before Donald Trump put the name Donald into the spotlight with his presidency, whenever I thought of the name Donald, I thought of like most people, the cartoon ๐Ÿฆ†duck, Donald Duck. However, Donald Trump is certainly now the most famous Donald of all time.
