The Top Names of 2040: Predicted by Nameberry

๐Ÿ“›Nameberry๐Ÿ’, the premier go to for all things ๐Ÿ‘ถbaby ๐Ÿ“›names and ๐Ÿ“›name trends ๐Ÿ“Š  — just released their ๐Ÿ”ฎpredictions for the future ๐Ÿ”Top ๐Ÿ”Ÿ10 ๐Ÿ“›Names now until ⏩2040! ๐Ÿคฏ

How is this possible? ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ“›NB๐Ÿ’ recently launched a, "new baby-naming tool, Berry Trends, which predicts the future popularity of names by applying machine learning technology to historic data. Owen Satran, who also created the Nameberry games and maps, built this tool by creating a proprietary algorithm that analyzes official and private data using an academic predictive formula. This is the tool that baby namers — and baby name experts — have always needed. Government statistics measure a name’s popularity last year, not today when you’re choosing a name, or in five years when your child is in kindergarten, or in 15 years when they’re in high school. And even Nameberry’s best predictions were based more on guesswork and trend analysis than on the vast amount of data and sophisticated algorithm that went into creating Berry Trends."

๐Ÿฅ

...

Without further ado, here are ๐Ÿ“›Nameberry๐Ÿ’'s predicted Top 10 girl and boy names for 2040:

๐Ÿ“›NB๐Ÿ’: The headlines: Charlotte is projected to vault to #1 next year and stay there for the foreseeable future. And today’s #1 Olivia falls off the Top 10. The Top 5 girl names of 2040 all rank in the Top 10 now. Eleanor, Violet, and Aurora lie just outside it.

Lucy and Isla are the surprise entrants to the Top 10. Lucy has been on an upward trajectory for 50 years but has never been a Top 10 name. Isla zoomed straight up the list in the noughties with the fame of actress Isla Fisher, but has transcended that association to become a star in its own right. Olivia’s fall is the smallest surprise in this data.

๐Ÿ“›NB๐Ÿ’The biggest story on the boys’ side: Liam holds fast to his current #1 boy rank over the coming decades, becoming as durable a favorite as John, Michael, and Jacob. The boys’ list is in general more stable than the girls’. Seven of the boys’ the names in our projected 2040 Top 10 are there now, and Elias and Levi lie just outside it.

The one big outlier is Cooper, but it’s been rising consistently since the 1980s so the model suggests it will keep gathering steam.

IRN๐Ÿ“›'s ๐Ÿ—ฃ️Take: "Eh... ๐Ÿ˜• I'm not surprised.  All of the names projected to be in the top 10 for girls and boys by 2040 are fine. But... that's the problem. There is no real change. ๐Ÿ˜’ Not one name stands out because it's so ๐Ÿฅณexciting, ๐Ÿฆ„different or bold (on the girl's side, ๐Ÿ“›Isla perhaps but it is hardly a new name to be seen, e.g. ๐ŸŽฅactress ๐Ÿ“›Isla Fisher). I ✨wish the name ๐Ÿ“›Unique at least was on the ๐Ÿ’—girl's list. ๐Ÿ˜ž And although I ๐Ÿ™…๐Ÿพ‍♀️ hate the name ๐Ÿ“›Truce even that would be nice to even see on the ๐Ÿ’™boy's list. ๐Ÿ˜… I would think 14 years from now the most popular names would be more ๐Ÿซขprovocative and ๐Ÿคฉimpressive, not the same names I've heard all my life. ๐Ÿซ  I hope ๐Ÿ“›Nameberry๐Ÿ’'s ๐Ÿ”ฎpredictions are wrong ❌ but only ⏳time will tell what ๐Ÿ“›names will be trending ๐Ÿ“ˆ in ⏩2040. I hope that I am not ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ praying for the return of Puritan names ๐Ÿ˜ฌ because as ๐Ÿคชunhinged as most are — at least those names are ๐Ÿ‘€ eye-popping and truly unparalleled."๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพ‍♀️

The Top 10 Baby Names of 2025

๐Ÿ“…Friday (5/8) ๐ŸŒ…morning I was greeted๐Ÿค— to this ๐Ÿ“จemail from the
U.S. Social Security Administration announcing...

๐Ÿฅ...

๐ŸฅณSurprise?!

The full ๐Ÿ“ƒlist the SSA released on the Top 10 Baby Names of 2025 goes as follows:

๐Ÿคจ

The only real surprise is that there's one new girl's name: ๐Ÿ“›Eliana. ⏪2024's list had ๐Ÿ“›Ava at #9.

๐Ÿ“›Eliana is the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese form of the French ๐Ÿ“›Eliane (root: the Greek word Helios or ☀️sunProbably from Aeliana, the feminine form of the Roman name Aelianus, which was derived from the Roman family name Aelius) and means: my God has answered.

I like the meaning of ๐Ÿ“›Eliana's name but... I'm not a huge fan of the name ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพ‍♀️ — though it is a pretty sounding name ✔ — and I do like 'E' names.  It is nice to see a name with some ๐ŸŒถspice enter into the Top 10 list this year. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿพ But I ✨wish there was a truly ๐Ÿฆ„unique or ๐Ÿ˜ฎoutrageous name in one of the spots (male side included).
Maybe in 2035? ๐Ÿ˜ซ

Rewind: The Top 20 Baby Names of 2016

With the viral "2026 Is The New 2016" trend everywhere, I decided to ๐Ÿง look back ๐Ÿ”™ at the most ๐Ÿ“ˆ popular ๐Ÿ‘ถ baby ๐Ÿ“› names of ⏪ 2016!

Without further ado, here are the ๐Ÿ” top ๐Ÿ“› names of 2016 the SSA lists ๐Ÿ“„:

My favorite names are:

๐Ÿ’™BOYS: ๐Ÿ“›Daniel ๐Ÿ“›Jackson ๐Ÿ“›Alexander ๐Ÿ“›Logan ๐Ÿ“›James

๐Ÿ’—GIRLS: ๐Ÿ“›Scarlett ๐Ÿ“›Elizabeth ๐Ÿ“›Isabella ๐Ÿ“›Mia ๐Ÿ“›Madison

If ๐Ÿ“›Noah and ๐Ÿ“›Emma somehow steal the #1 top names spotlight from ๐Ÿ“›Liam and ๐Ÿ“›Olivia in 2026  that will be pretty cool for them to reign again in the names realm  ⏩ 10 years later. ๐Ÿคฏ

The Top 10 Baby Names of 2024

The Social Security Administration released their list of Top 10 Baby Names of 2024!

๐Ÿฅ...

I'm VERY surprised! ๐Ÿคฏ Most of the names are classic or "safe."๐Ÿฅฑ At the least, I was expecting one odd-one-out name. ๐Ÿ˜ค

These names are in fact popular, I've met/known thus far in my life: (1) ✔Noah, (3 or 4) ✔Jameses, (1) ✔Elijah, (1) ✔William, (1) ✔Mia, (2) ✔Evelyns and (1) ✔Sophia or ✔Sofia (I don't remember the spelling).

If I had to choose one name from male and female sides as my favorite: I'd pick James (because I love all things James Bond) or Noah (because of its Biblical significance. Btw James and Elijah are Biblical names too.) and Mia or Olivia (Mia sounds cute and Olivia sounds sophisticated). ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพ‍♀️

We're in 2025 and there's not one shocking or interesting name on the list? ๐Ÿคจ I'm very disappointed. ๐Ÿ™ Where is the creativity and originality? ๐Ÿง I guess that's left mostly for celebrity parents. ๐Ÿ˜

I wonder in ⏩2035 how will the list look? ๐Ÿค” Will it be similar? ๐Ÿ˜’ By then I'd love to see at least one uncommon, out-of-the-box name, for each side make it ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿพ and I'd be happy with that. ๐Ÿ˜€
