Michelle Williams the 🎤singer, former member of 🎶Destiny's Child👩🏽👩🏾👩🏿 — met the other Michelle Williams — 🎥actress and ex partner of the late 🎥actor 🤡Heath Ledger. 

It's very cool the two name twins linked up🆙— but was it bound to happen if they both have a "once superstar⭐" first name (#4📈 in the 70s and currently #465📉 in US Top 1000📊) and the third most popular family last name in the US?  

Now if they both had the same middle name as well, that would truly be kismet.💫 But Michelle the actress' is: 📛Ingrid. Michelle the singer's middle name is... Michelle!  📛Tenitra is her first name! 🤯

I like singer William's first name Tenitra (which I never knew was her name until I researched her for this piece. 🤦🏾‍♀️ And I was a Destiny's Child fan growing up! 😖) over the too common Michelle. I also like actress William's middle name Ingrid more so than Michelle. Michelle is a nice name (I like the meaning: who is like God?, French var. of Michael) but it's a neutral name too — there's nothing special about it 🤷🏾‍♀️ — but it's so familiar (I once had two bffs at the same time named Michelle. 🙋🏾‍♀️ In 🏫school they were known as 'the Michelles' and teachers would refer to them by their last names. Even in our friend group, myself and our other friends would refer to them by the initial of their last name often to differentiate the two.) you almost automatically like it. Nevertheless, I can't imagine either Williams going by anything but 📛Michelle.

Billie Jean, Diana, Annie & Susie: Michael Jackson Songs Featuring Female Names

💐Legendary 🎤🕺🏽 entertainer extraordinaire 👑Michael Jackson sang a multitude of hit 🎼songs — four of which I will be discussing — as they feature the first names: 📛Billie Jean, 📛Diana, 📛Annie and 📛Susie. 

"She told me her name was Billie Jean," Jackson sings of a beautiful woman with movie star looks. However, Billie Jean is not only a looker but a liar allegedly, accusing a man of being the father of her son.

The name 📛Billie Jean (excluding 🎾tennis' Billie Jean King) is forever associated with a woman being the ultimate homewrecker. But Billie Jean is a badass 😎 name nevertheless. 📛Billie Jean is obviously the names 📛Billie (meaning: resolute protection, English, diminutive of 📛Wilhelmina) + 📛Jean (meaning: God is gracious, French, variation of 📛Johanna) = the perfect name combination. 📛Nameberry🍒 says Billie Jean peaked for girls in 1984 (Billie Jean the song was released in 1983) at #4498. Boyish Billie alone has become a popular name (#694 ranking in US Top 1000) while old fashioned Jean (on name charts since 1880) is "extremely well-used as a middle name," points out 📛NB🍒. 

I love 😍 the name 📛Billie Jean and personally would not mind if I had been named it 🤷🏾‍♀️ (quite possible too because my late father was a huge Michael Jackson fan, the song came out days before I was born and my late mother said the song was played for me when I was a 👶🏾baby 🥰). But with how shocking the story of the fictional Billie Jean is, perhaps having it as a first name would be too scandalous 😬 (at least during the 80s if a girl grew up named such). Billie Jean the song would not be the same if it were entitled only: Billie or just: Jean. Separately the names are fine but together they are a perfect powerhouse. 💥

So for Jackson to have a racy song with the first name of a prestigous royal family member within is jaw-dropping. 😮 But no the song was not about the Princess of Wales! In an interview with Barbara Walters, Jackson shared the memory of a London concert with Princess Diana present: "I took it out of the show in honor of her royal highness. She took me away and she said, Are you going to do 'Dirty Diana'? So, I said, 'No I took it out of the show because of you.' She said, 'No! I want you to do it. Do the song.'"

I really like the name 📛Diana, it's a beautiful and timeless name. It definitely has a bit more oomph! than slightly boring sister 📛Diane. If Jackson's Dirty Diana were instead: Dirty Diane it would not be the same song. 📛Diana was definitely the ✔right name choice to use. 💯

The name 📛Annie is often a winsome (think Little Orphan Annie) nickname for 📛Ann —  which means: grace (deriving from 📛Hannah in Hebrew). "Annie is one of the most open and optimistic, the-sun'll-come-out-tomorrow type of name. It strikes a nice old-fashioned-but-jaunty chord that still has appeal," swears 📛Nameberry🍒. It ranks at #191 in US Top 1000 and has been a Top 20 name from the 1880s to 1907. 

📛Annie is an adorable name but maybe too... childish? 🤔 At least to use as a first name. I like it mainly as a nickname to the more serious: 📛Ann, 📛Anne or girly 📛Anna. Jackson again, made the correct name choice in choosing 📛Annie: "Anna are you okay?" or "Ann/e are you okay?" No, both sound off. 🙅🏾‍♀️

📛Susie is simple yet cutesy when used as a real life name and I like it just okay 👌🏾 — but it doesn't seem like it would be the name of a femme fatale 👄 —  yet it somehow it works well (over 📛Susan, too dull 🥱 and 📛Susannah, too peppy 😃) in Jackson's dark 😈 song.

Freddy, Jason & Michael: Horror Inspired Names

    Happy Halloween! 🎃 Halloween is synonymous with Horror — so I will be talking about the top three horror movie character's names! 

    For non-horror fans, the names Freddy, Jason and Michael may seem like everyday names for a boy or man. But 📛Freddy (born Frederick) Krueger, 📛Jason Voorhees and 📛Michael Myers are significant names being the 'Big 3' in the world of 🔪🩸horror movies. 🎥 The names Freddy, Jason and Michael are all unsuspecting and pretty normal enough in the real world, yet their bearers signify evil incarnate in Horror. 😱 

    Interestingly, the meaning of each iconic horror name is... good. 😇 📛Freddy means "peaceful ruler", 📛Jason means "to heal" and 📛Michael means "who is like God?" Michael is the most popular of the three, ranking at #18 on the Most Popular Baby Names of 2024. Jason is second, coming in at #148. Freddy is the least popular name, at least in the U.S. In England, Freddy is the #319th most popular name.

    I wonder if there are any baby boys specifically named after any of the horror villains 🤔 or better yet, if there's any sibling set, brothers (triplets) named after each horror character. 😨 That would be something else (and pretty cool 😎 I admit) having sons 👼🏻👼🏻👼🏻 named: Freddy, Jason and Michael. 😰

A woman named Michael

When actress Michael Michele gained notoriety in the 1990s from the tv show ER, I was certain I misread her name, that is was backward and was: Michele Michael. I was wrong. I was floored hearing a woman was named 📛Michael!  

Michael Michele's birth name is seriously that (well, Michael Michele Williams to be exact). She was named by her mother, in honor of her mother's best friend, a woman named Michael. 

📛Michael is from the Hebrew name Mika'el meaning, 'who is like God?' It is a historically male name and one of the most popular names for boys (as of 2024 #18) to be named. Who doesn't know a Michael?! I've personally known close to 10 (that I can remember, there's probably more 😵) in my life so far.    

But meeting a Michael that's female? Now that's a true rarity. Nameberry says on girls named Michael: "Michael ranked in the Top 1000 for GIRLS' names for more than half a century, from 1938 until 1994. In the late 1970s and early 80s, during the heyday of The Waltons which starred actress Michael Learned, it reached as high as the 300s. What happened then? Our guess is that the rise of Michaela, the tenacity of Michael at the head of the boys' list, and the popularity of Michelle/Michele all conspired to knock Michael-for-girls off the list. And giving this name to your daughter would invite a lifetime of explanations, though it does have a musical sound that can be as attractive for girls as it is for boys...and a darn sight fresher." Name Census cites by way of SSA data: in 2023 20 baby girls were named Michael.  

I'm shocked girls are being named Michael in the 2020s. More so, I genuinely thought Michael Michele was an anomaly and "the first female Michael." And the only one even. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Actress Michael Learned came before her to my surprise. 🤯 There is a child actress cutely named closely to Michael Michele but her name is spelled alternatively: 📛Mykal-Michelle! 

I think the name Michael for a girl is really something, it's cool in one sense, but it can get very confusing (at least on paper. It's even weird writing this post and referring to Michael as a female)... 🤔 I'm not the biggest fan of the name Michael (anymore) but I still prefer it for a male over a female, call me old-fashioned with the timeless name. 🤷🏾‍♀️   

The name 📛Shannon for example, is a predominately female used name but it also is used often enough by males where no one blinks. I wonder if the name Michael will ever be that interchangeable where one isn't with jaws dropped if a little girl or woman is introduced as a 📛Michael. 😮  

I don't foresee that... 📛Michael is such a masculine name, it's just expected to be used for males. I don't consider it a bona fide unisex name (a la Shannon). It probably will always be more popular for boys to be named over girls. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

Today is the 16th anniversary of the 👑King of Pop🎵 Michael Jackson's death (RIP) and to commemorate him, I'll be diving into the name: 📛Jackson!   

📛Michael was one of my favorite names since I was a young girl (as Michael Jackson is my favorite music artist since then) but that's no longer the case for personal reasons... 😬 I however love the surname 📛Jackson as a first name. It was my top baby name for a boy in the 2010s if I had a son.   

The name Jackson is English and means 'son of Jack.' Nameberry names the extensive list of ⭐celebrities who have chosen it for a son (actress Katey Sagal interestingly and her t.v. son have the same name) but swears, "its heyday as a celebrity baby name was at least a decade ago."  

Jackson is liked a lot by non-celebrities as it is the 📈35th most popular name for baby boys in 2024. However, it surprisingly made it to 📄list: The Most Hated Baby Names In America as #10 (📛Michael ironically was #9 deemed for being 'boring') for boys via The Baby Name Wizard. The states where you'll most likely to meet a Jackson include: 📍Alabama, 📍California and 📍Florida.   

Very shockingly, Jackson can actually be used as a girl's name! 🤯 Nameberry's writer on the revelation reveals, "No, Jackson is not the latest crazy name the girls are stealing from the boys. Oddly enough, Jackson was given to MORE girls a decade ago than it was last year, probably as a family name or as a tribute to the musicians. But Jackson's extreme popularity as a boys' name has probably made it feel less possible for girls. There have been some extremely popular baby names for girls -- Addison, Madison, Allison -- that originated as patronymics and literally mean "son of." And there's nothing gender-neutral about that."    

Name Census reports: in 2023 there were 19 baby girls named Jackson! 😮 I prefer Jackson used traditionally as a boy's name. But I do think it's a pretty creative, modern day spin that girls now have this badass name too. 😎  

I'm a big fan of everything about the name 📛Jackson. 🥰 I also like it can be shortened to just 📛Jack as a nickname, which is another favorite name of mine. I feel Jackson is so popular it will eventually be cemented in the top 20 most popular boy names list SSA highlights. 🤞🏾 The overly popular, classic name 📛Michael was the 18th most popular boy name in 2024. Jackson being the 35th is catching up nicely 👌🏾and I'm rooting badly for it to ⏩ surpass 📛Michael. 👏🏾
