Fruit For Thought: Apple, Cherry, Fig & Pumpkin As Names In Forbidden Fruits Film

🍏Apple, 🍒Cherry, 🌳Fig and 🎃Pumpkin are not only names of fruits — but the names of four friends (and ✨witches🧙‍♀️🧙🏼‍♀️🧙🏽‍♀️🧙🏻‍♀️) in new 🎥film Forbidden Fruits: 

      

The names of these characters as fruits are very clever 🧠 and really fun. 🤗 I like some more than others 🤷🏾‍♀️ but as a whole, I love 🥰 the idea 💡 of their names matching in a sense. 👌🏾  

These fruity, cutesy names aren't however just made up names for a movie — they're all 😮 very real first names used for 👶baby 💗girls in real life:

📛🍏Apple: "When people talk about unique baby names, Apple is often one of the first examples they mention. Apple made international headlines when Gwyneth Paltrow chose this wholesome fruit name for her daughter. Many have called it ridiculous, but we have to admit, we find it appealing enough to list as one of our top cute baby names," says 📛Nameberry🍒

📛🍒Cherry: "Sweet Cherry remains remarkably underused - at its peak in 1948. The unsavory slang meaning no doubt goes a long way towards explaining its fall from grace," says 📛Nameberry🍒

📛🌳Fig: "Fig was the unlikely name of a beautiful character in Curtis Sittenfeld's Man of My Dreams. Better bets: Plum or even Apple. Still, you might consider Fig as an unusual nickname for any more formal F-starting name, from Frances to Fiona," says 📛Nameberry🍒

📛🎃Pumpkin: "A common name for orange-colored cats. Fun fact: the word pumpkin is derived from the Greek pepōn, translating to "large melon,"" says 📛Nameberry🍒 

💭If I could personally ⏪re-name📛 the characters (I'd keep 📛🍒Cherry ✔ & 📛🎃Pumpkin ✔) but for the rest — I'd pick the names of my 👍🏾👍🏾favorite fruits: 📛🍑Peach and 📛🍊Tangerine (or 📛Nectarine). 😍

Freddy, Jason & Michael: Horror Inspired Names

    Happy Halloween! 🎃 Halloween is synonymous with Horror — so I will be talking about the top three horror movie character's names! 

    For non-horror fans, the names Freddy, Jason and Michael may seem like everyday names for a boy or man. But 📛Freddy (born Frederick) Krueger, 📛Jason Voorhees and 📛Michael Myers are significant names being the 'Big 3' in the world of 🔪🩸horror movies. 🎥 The names Freddy, Jason and Michael are all unsuspecting and pretty normal enough in the real world, yet their bearers signify evil incarnate in Horror. 😱 

    Interestingly, the meaning of each iconic horror name is... good. 😇 📛Freddy means "peaceful ruler", 📛Jason means "to heal" and 📛Michael means "who is like God?" Michael is the most popular of the three, ranking at #18 on the Most Popular Baby Names of 2024. Jason is second, coming in at #148. Freddy is the least popular name, at least in the U.S. In England, Freddy is the #319th most popular name.

    I wonder if there are any baby boys specifically named after any of the horror villains 🤔 or better yet, if there's any sibling set, brothers (triplets) named after each horror character. 😨 That would be something else (and pretty cool 😎 I admit) having sons 👼🏻👼🏻👼🏻 named: Freddy, Jason and Michael. 😰

    I like the names 📛Freddy 👍🏾 and 📛Jason 👍🏾 most — not a big fan of 📛Michael 🤷🏾‍♀️ but I do like Michael Myers a lot. 👌🏾

NAME OF THE DAY: October

🎉Happy October! Today is the beginning of the month (my favorite month 🎃) and therefore I will talk about the name 📛October 🧡

October: "is the tenth month by our Gregorian calendar and is from the Latin octo and Greek okto, meaning “eight.” October was the eighth month of the year rather than the tenth as it is today. The Roman calendar was only ten months long and included the following months: Martius, Aprilis, Maius, Junius, Quintilis, Sextilis, September, October, November, and December. As you can see, January and February hadn’t been added to the calendar yet! Like its neighboring months September, November, and December, the month of October kept its numerical name, even after Julius Caesar expanded the calendar year from 10 months to 12. The use of October increased after the Norman invasion of 1066, eventually replacing the Old English vernacular term Winterfylleð (“Winter full moon”)," Dictionary.com explains. 

On October being used as a first name, Nameberry asks, "What is so rare as a month named June? October – and November and December – are a lot rarer. Brisk and substantial, they're so much more memorable and modern than April or May." 

October is not unanimously seen as a unisex name but both baby boys and girls use it. Although, My Name Stats claims according to SSA data, usually October is used as a girl's name 100% of the time. The most Octobers can be found fittingly in 📍Massachusetts, followed by Rhode Island. October also is a surname. 📛

October is one of my favorite first names 😍 —  as in 🏆"Top 10 Favorite Names"📛📃. I love it so much! 🥰 It's a name I definitely wish ✨ I had if I could have been born with a name other than my own. 😭 I actually knew an October in my college years and I was beyond in awe 😮 at her name, envious too. 😊 I remembering going up to her after or before class one day and inquiring about her unique name. 🧐 When she said her grandmother was named October too I was really wowed! 🤯

📛October is an outstanding 👏🏾 really rare first name (I prefer it more so for a girl💗). I doubt October will ever be a popular name month 🙁 but that's part of the appeal — and that makes it even more mysterious and cool 😎 (when given to a 💙boy) to have as one's name. 😁
