Rihanna announced her newborn 🎉 first daughter's name as: 📛Rocki! 💗 

Her full name is Rocki Irish Mayers and 📛Irish 🍀 is the very interesting middle name she was bestowed. 

Her first name being Rocki obviously comes from her father's (stage) name A$AP 📛Rocky (means 'rock' in Italian) — in the feminine form. I always love when fathers give their daughters their name 👍🏾👍🏾 (which is unfortunately rare) —  so Rocki is a very cool 😎 name. 

The closest I got to guessing Rihanna's daughter's name was my guess of 📛Rakia — A$AP Rocky's real, birth name  📛Rakim — in a female name form.  🤷🏾‍♀️

NAME OF THE DAY: Autumn

Happy Fall!🍂 Today is the start of Fall season aka Autumn, so I will be diving into the name 📛Autumn 🍁  

The word autumn "comes from the French autompne, from the Latin autumnus, whose deeper roots are obscure. It’s first recorded in English as early as the late 1300s—notably, both Chaucer and Shakespeare used it in their works. Today, speakers of American English commonly use both fall and autumn to refer to the season, though fall became more common in the US by the late 1800s. Speakers of British English largely use autumn or the autumn season," according to Dictionary.com

Autumn as a first name has been, "Given to a handful of girls every year since the 1910s — though US records show it has been used since the 1870s — it began to grow more popular in the 50s and 60s, before entering the mainstream in the 70s. In a recent year, it was given to over 3000 girls in the US," Nameberry says. Autumn was #79 on the Most Popular Baby Names list in 2024.  Nameberry thinks it has, "been popular for many years without ever feeling wildly overused, Autumn can be considered familiar without being too trendy." 

Behind the Name's opinion poll on Autumn finds some to believe the name to be "strange" just like Nameberry calls it "unusual." I personally don't find Autumn to be peculiar at all. What I do find weird is supposedly sunny California is the state where most Autumns live. 🤔 However in Utah, 22.79 in every 100,000 Utahns are named Autumn. Michigan also has a 98th percentile rank for Autumn.  

I have always loved the name 📛Autumn. I think it's a sophisticated name. It's my favorite season name (followed by Summer, Winter and Spring) to be used for a first name. It's a beautiful name and I feel it's on the road to becoming a classic name even. With it being in the top 100 baby girl names, I don't think that's a stretch — 📛Autumn is an ageless name that won't be going out of style anytime soon.

🎤Rapper Cardi B revealed she is expecting her fourth baby with new partner 🏈NFL player Stefon Marsean Diggs — although mum's the word on telling the gender. 🤐

Cardi B is known for giving her children crazy (in a good way 👌🏾), cute names so I definitely can't wait to see what dramatic name she gives her new baby. 

Although, I predict she will give this baby the tamest of all her children's names (📛Kulture, 📛Wave & 📛Blossom) so far. I feel she will go a more traditional route and name her baby after his/her father or after herself — but the baby's middle name instead, will be more free-spirited.

The safest baby name to give a kid? How about Secure

Turns out the newborn baby boy named 📛Secure, wasn't safe from name scrutiny in the comment section of the TikTok post where his parents announced his unexpected name: 

"What wrong with parents these days?" 

"Secure?? You parents in this generation really don't get it," 

"'Secure' is a word that describes a feeling. It's not a name. But to each his own."

I usually love an unusual word name but I'm not a fan of Secure — I only like that it is an 'S' name. 🤷🏾‍♀️ It just sounds so random. 😬 Although, I'm sure the parents have a deep reason 🤔 why they went with it — so it's great they were confident and secure enough to give this name to their child. 😏 (FYI they have two other sons with 'S' names: 📛Saviour and 📛Shine. 🤯 I really do not like Saviour 🤦🏿‍♀️ but I do like Shine 🙋🏾‍♀️)

Denzel Washington's name pronounced correctly

Did you know legendary actor Denzel Washington's first name is actually pronounced differently than most of us have known it to be?!? 🤯

Denzel says himself on a recent Jimmy Kimmel episode that the right 🗣 pronunciation of his name is (🔉@ 7:59): Den-zul 🚫 NOT Den-zelle ❗ 

I actually knew this years ago after seeing him pronounce it on The Graham Norton Show in 2013. "Actually it's Denzel "(pron. Den-zul 🔉@ 0:06) Washington clarifies. I was shocked 😮 of course and I still mispronounce his name as Den-zelle 🤦🏿‍♀️  

📛Denzel is of Cornish origin and means "from the high stronghold." Denzel Washington was named after his father. On Kimmel's show he explains, "My mother would say 'Denzil' and we both show up. So she said 'from now on you're Denzel.' That's how we got to pronounce Denzel." Kimmel told Washington that in 1987, there were zero NFL football players named Denzel and now there are four (Burke, Perryman, Mims and Ward), something the late-night host credits to the actor's first Oscar win. Washington agreed, adding that he is confident many Denzels were named after him because of his unique name. 

In 1993 when Washington's film work was starting to soar, the name Denzel was at a 📈 peak point with 864 baby boys given the suave name. 😎 It also ranked #311 for being popular. Unfortunately as of recent, the name Denzel was not on SSA's Most Popular Baby Names list in 2024 📉. In England however, Denzel was at 📈 #687 for baby boys to be named in 2024.  

I like the name Denzel. Denzel Washington was definitely the first Denzel I ever heard of. I'm so accustomed to hearing his name as Den-zelle so I'm partial to that pronunciation — but Den-zul isn't bad, just different and takes awhile to get used to hearing/saying. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Here's to the dashing 📛Denzel (with either Den-zelle or Den-zul pronunciation) having a revival on the 📛 name charts 📈 once again because it really is such a fine name. 👌🏾

How many Sarovers are there?

Sarover Aujla of the reality show Love Is Blind UK (season two) believes she is the only 📛Sarover out there.

When she is in the pods meeting a potential romantic interest named Chris and they introduce themselves, he says: "I've never heard that name before in my life." 

Sarover replies: "I've actually googled my name before I do think I'm one of the only ones." 

I googled 🧐 Sarover's name too and she may just be right... I couldn't find anything on a Sarover 🤔spelled like hers beyond 📛Sarover as a surname. However, I did find a 📛Sarovar as a first name. I assumed since the two names are so similar, Sarover is a variant of Sarovar. But Sarovar is supposedly a masculine name (I would think Sarover more so because of the 'e' in it) of Sanskrit origins that means 'lake' or 'pond.' 🌊 

I like the name 📛Sarover (especially the 🔉'Sara' sounding part) because it's literally one of a kind, bonus being it's an Indian name. ✔ Hopefully Sarover Aujla finds another 📛namesake 👯 at some point in time so they can have a cool bond being one of the few women named 📛Sarover. 🤞🏾
